Youth & Elders Storytelling Salon
Youth and elder guest speakers will gather to tell stories about the old days, the new days, and the goods and the bads of each, with a mix of interview questions, storytelling, and “hey that reminds me of a story.”

For the first time, the annual Elder Salon is inviting youth to share their experiences so young and old can learn a thing or two. We’ll have tales from our nvited guests for most of the evening, and then we’ll turn the tables, and encourage the audience to share some stories and experiences together over light refreshments.

Stories of coming out, stories of staying in, stories of loves found and lost and found again, stories of families biological and.. just logical, all these story threads weave the rich tapestry describing our community current and past.

All are welcome, whether you have a story to tell or not.

This is a free event with admittance on a first come, first served with provincially mandated site capacities being strictly adhered to. This event will take place in the All Ages zone on site.

Sweet sounds will be coming from Acadia Park during our FREE Sackville Summer Concert Series this summer! Local up-and-coming artist Landon Duquette will be performing at our Pride-themed concert on August 15th, from 7-8 pm. We will be following all public health protocols and updating details on the event webpage. Pivot Nova Scotia Webinar: Barriers to 2S/LGBTQIA+ Healthcare and Creating Meaningful Community Engagement with Nova Scotia Health
Pivot Nova Scotia is a community-based 2S/LGBTQIA+ health leadership program that provides community members with the tools to create systemic changes in our healthcare system. The Pivot NS 2020 cohort recently completed their systems change project to assess clinic competency in 2S/LGBTQIA+ healthcare throughout the province. This webinar will consist of Pivot leaders sharing insights gathered from the analysis of data provided by clinics, as well as the systemic barriers encountered that prevent meaningful engagement between the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community and health providers. Future recommendations will be discussed, specifically around what inclusive care looks like and how to improve Nova Scotia Health’s outdated communication system. Community members and health providers are encouraged to attend this event as perspectives from each of these groups are essential for the implementation of these solutions.

A group of queer strangers unite to resettle Drake in Vancouver, but they are tasked with a year-long commitment to someone they’ve never met, and struggle with the challenging conditions of this support. Together, Drake and his sponsors embark on an emotional journey in search of personal freedom, revealing how in a world where one must constantly fight for the right to exist, survival itself becomes a victory.

This is an all ages event, you are not required to donate items in order to participate. Tote bags and water bottles will be available on location. The Youth Project will be accepting clothing donations at our location (2281 Brunswick St, Halifax) Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm from now until August 18th. Donation Criteria: Wash before donating, pre-loved and in good condition, accessories welcomed, no piercings/hygiene items, please refrain from donating items with graphic or appropriated imagery. In an effort to be inclusive of all body sizes, we are looking for clothing donations between sizes XS-6XL. We will also be accepting clothing donations at the physical event on the 19th.

Queer Gardens: Pleasures in 4 bases August 20th 6:00pm - 9:00pm ;) Join us for an evening of art and food in our queer garden! Artists Arjun Lal, Excel Garay, Kayza DeGraff-Ford, and Wren Tian-Morris present their artistic investigations of the erotic. Through public installations they transform the baseball diamond into sites for queer pleasure. Each base will explore expressions of Queer relationships and activate our legacy as Queer people. Folks are encouraged to explore the space, enjoy the art, and hang out while the artists serve free barbecue for all. This is a space for the enjoyment of the Queer Community at large.
